Dorking Halls and panto production company Enchanted Entertainment have announced that this year’s Christmas panto Jack and the Beanstalk will be postponed to December 2021.
Keith Garrow, General Manager of Dorking Halls, said: “We are sad to have to postpone the panto – it’s one of the highlights of our year, and always extremely popular with all ages. With so much current uncertainty and social distancing guidelines in place for the foreseeable future, it is unfortunately not possible to run the show this year.
“Our box office team has contacted all ticket holders to offer a refund or transfer to the new date. We are looking forward to working with our long-time friends at Enchanted Entertainment to bring everyone a wonderfully entertaining show next year. Last year our panto Aladdin broke box office records, so we’re hoping to do the same next year.
“Do watch this space for alternative, socially-distanced Christmas 2020 entertainment. We are encouraged at how much interest there has been in our August bank holiday open-air theatre event Dorking Halls Plays in the Park, and the team are now working together on ideas to bring more fantastic live entertainment to our local communities.”
Guy Pascall, Artistic Director of Enchanted Entertainment, said: “It is with a heavy heart that the team here at Enchanted Entertainment are unable to produce Jack and the Beanstalk this Christmas for our fantastic audiences at Dorking Halls. This would have been our 12th year at the venue and we know how important the panto is for so many families as part of their Christmas celebrations.
“However, we will now spend the extra time making sure that Jack, Jill and Daisy the Cow will be climbing up the beanstalk to Dorking Halls in our biggest and best panto yet for Christmas 2021. We are always extremely grateful that so many families turn out year after year to support this amazing theatre and our Christmas show and we’ll see everyone very soon for more singing, dancing and panto silliness – oh yes we will!”
Tickets are selling fast for Dorking Halls Plays in the Park, which sees popular outdoor theatre productions The Wind In The Willows and Three Men in a Boat performed at Meadowbank Park on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August.
